This doesn’t happen too often and only for a niche words but still not uncommon. I asked a others to try this on their computer, and they can type it. Is there a way to fix this?
Maybe you can use the same IME they’re using, because that’s pretty much where the difference is coming from. Also, it helps when you (correctly) use them in a sentence, and convert to kanji in longer phrases rather than the word singled out.
In cases like this, I will just do the kanji individually and smash them together.
IMEs work with an internal dictionary. If it doesn’t convert what you typed into the word you’re looking for, you can add it to the dictionary.
The only thing I dislike about adding entries is how those suddenly take precedence over the built-in ones. Like, typing のみ results in 鑿.
Most IMEs also include an auto-learning feature, which could be another reason why. Failing that, it could be because the IME is configured to pull the results from the internet.
