Backpack woes

The backpack that I use for work keeps destroying all my nice shirts. It rubs against the back of my shirts and pills the material to hell.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Obviously, I need a new backpack, but I don’t know why it’s happening and I don’t want to buy another one that does the same thing.

  1. Does your bag have a supposedly breathable nylon mesh on the back or the inside of the straps? I’ve had a similar issue with mine but decided to just live with it because otherwise it’s an awesome bag, and then pilling can be removed easily from clothes with a 100 yen pill remover from Daiso.

  2. I’m assuming that you have to fold or crumple your shirts to put them in your backpack, so why not just add a plastic bag to the equation?

  3. I’ve used the same timbuk2 bag for 4 years with no noticeable wear on my shirts. Maybe it’s the shirts?

  4. The mesh on the back and straps is what is causing it. I cut up my husband’s old airism undershirts and sewed them over the mesh to stop it from happening.

  5. me today when i got rocks in my shoe while walking in the rain but didnt wanna be weird an take of my shoes so i just walked home limping with visibly bloody ankles as curtesy to everyone

  6. I recently spotted a few backpacks in LOFT that don’t have the breathable mesh on the back.

    Worth taking a look there.

  7. You can use a shaving 🪒 razor and a lint roller and the shirt is like new

  8. I buy from Osprey, Peak Design, Aer, Incase, Tumi and they are pretty good. Tumi is the least comfortable one but material-wise, it is ok.
