Hello,
Wanted to hear from you guys if you think it’s a good idea to have a summer vacation and travel to another country and then just come back to Japan.
I know you have to present a PCR or similar before returning, but triple vac, blue country is tempting.
Can you use now public transportation from airport or is it still a no go?
Thanks

Triple vaccinated does not prevent you getting infected and even if it is non-symptomatic or you get cured in few days the PCR tests have been known to show positive 3-6 months afterwards.
Apart from the ecological thing, yeah it’s fine.
Always a risk of traveling while this backwards-ass country insists upon a negative PCR test in order to return.
You can now get certain kinds of rapid covid tests for the return to Japan. And if you’re triple vaccinated there’s no quarantine or transport restrictions. So go ahead if you like. You could purchase travel insurance for like Â¥5000/week to be even safer – many cover covid related travel expenses if you need to quarantine upon testing positive
Sure no problem, but you’ll be shocked at flight costs now
I traveled back home after 5 years last month.
When I came back here through Air France the use of mask was not mandatory, so naturally 95% of people on board didn’t wear it. And it was a connecting flight so it was full of people that didn’t need to show negative PCR. This was the first time I got covid, still stuck at home…
What’s the point of all the entry restrictions to Japan if you’re gonna be stuck 13 hours in a plane with infected people and no masks?
Answering your question, using the MySOS app to upload the required documents makes reentry really easy, so don’t worry about that.
Just saying, I had to spend a whooping 35.000Â¥ for one week in Korea, if you have the money, go for it, it’s pretty easy, not much paperwork or stuff, but it’s expensive…
Had a vacation recently, took public transport from the airport. Triple vaccinated, blue mySOS.
Larger problem is all the flight cancellations on the US side, and lack of flights into and out of Japan due to the entry cap and tourism restriction. If your flight does get cancelled, don’t expect to be routed to your destination the same day; it could take days or even weeks.
