Highschool students with so many stuffed toys hanging in their bag. Why? but it is cute :)

Whenever I use the train, I notice that highschool students with their huge back packs. Most of them have small stuffed toys hanging and I am just curious. Do they buy these for themselves or are these gifts from other friends? Is this their culture, like the more hanging on your bag, the more friends you have that give you these things? I find it really cute. I’m just wondering whether these things MUST be from friends before you hang them on your bags. I even see students with matching stuffed toys or random stuff in their bags. Sorry for the stupid post hahaha

  1. I guess it’s the one aspect you can be different.

Uniform, shoes, hairstyle and color all decided. But I’m the only one with a stuffed Pikachu/AKB/Leslie Neilsen dangling from me sack.

  2. I assume they get the stuffed toys from crane games at game centers. High school students often hang out there to get Purikura.

  3. > but it is cute 🙂

    You answered it yourself!

Most of my students win them at crane games or buy them at nearby malls. Basically, “look at what I won [with my friends]”.

  4. There used to be a salaryman in my neighborhood I always saw at the station and conbini who had some Miffy the rabbits hung from his work bag. Funny

  5. I’ve seen full adults and salarymen with them too! Sometimes it’s from crane games, other times it’s fan merch for anime, games, etc. that they wanna show off as a cute accessory without breaking dress code I guess haha
