Cat purchase

Looking for any recommendations for stores to get our 2nd cat. We attempted to adopt with kawakuji but they are only doing paired cats (we do not want to be 3 cat houseold). We also tried heart of tokushima (never got a response), and PAWS (naval base cat shelter) with same results of no response. Our first cat was a $30 humane shelter kitten and understand the price of will be significantly higher. This was not our original plan but it is what it is. Thanks

  1. Its a “kitten season”, so it is not that difficult to find single kittens from a private rescuers. Private rescuers do posts on JCN Facebook group page quite often. We got our cat that way and also planning on getting the second one this year.
If you decide to buy (which I do not judge) just make sure you buy from a good breeder that care about cats and the breed. That way you will get a healthy and a happy cat.
Ethics aside, irresponsible breeders will sell you a healthy looking kitten that will very likely develop some breed specific illness later in life and it’s medical bills might cost you a fortune.

  2. I don’t recommend buying at all but that’s me. If you try some sites like pethome you can meet with smaller rescues and individuals looking for homes for single cats and kittens.

  3. I recommend nikukyu.ranger, check them on IG! Or you can visit them directly and see the cats at 299cafe in Setagaya.

  4. Definitely ask at the Japan Cat Rescue. They will surely be able to put you in touch with people who can help.

  5. go through your local parks and take one (of appropriate age) from there haha that’s how i acquired my cat (not in japan tho)
