This sub seems to be very heavy on self teaching, but I’ve trying learning Japanese on and off again for years now and my lack of focus gets me nowhere fast. A classroom or tutored approach is something I would stick to more, but trying to sort the wheat from the chaff when looking for schools is hard.
Anyone in the UK have any recommendation on teachers or schools? I’ve no clue whether to look more for natives speaker who happen to teach, or none-native teachers with degrees in JP.
Bring to mind in high school where the maternity cover for our French teacher was a *French* teacher. She was a trained maths teacher, who was French, but her actual French teaching wasn’t so great.

Would you consider an online tutor?
I couldn’t find any classes even remotely near me so I ended up getting an online tutor. I feel quite lucky in finding someone who is a Japanese native, that lives in the UK. Who was a translator/ interpreter but also has qualifications for teaching Japanese as a foreign language.
