Shuttling to and from Japan on a work visa

Hello! I’m from Singapore and recently go the opportunity to transfer to Japan under a work visa. May I ask if it’s possible to possess a Japan work visa but stay in Singapore most of the time, only shuttling to Japan for a few months at a time? My work is fully remote so I could be based anywhere. Will the Japanese work visa allow such a work arrangement? Thank you in advance!

  2. If you’re holding a valid status of residence that gives you permission to work while you’re in Japan I can’t really imagine this would cause any major issues. I think you’d probably want to clear it with your companies HR, as I’m sure there would be some concern regarding your (and your companies) obligations for Japan taxes, pension, and health insurance. I know my companies HR team are extremely wary about anyone trying to work out of another country for more than 3 months in a year.
