Really wanted to go home after my meeting so I jumped on a nonreserved seat on the Sanyo Shinkansen. I knew it was raining in Tokai but I had no idea how bad it was. Big mistake. Now the rivers near my house are apparently flooding… Who else is stuck here in Osaka with me?

Are you unstuck yet?
Are you waiting at a station? Might be better to see if you can leave and find a place to bunker down for the night if so? Otherwise sorry to hear that you’re stuck on the shinkansen.
What is normally about a 40-minute commute for me is nearing the 3-hour mark… The trains in Tokyo are *fucked* right now.
Not stuck on the train (yet), but I have a flight tomorrow afternoon from Narita and was hoping to go over to Tokyo tonight to spend some time with the SO before I depart. I ran out of work at lunch, grabbed my stuff and got to Nagoya station just as the trains were suspended.
Now, I’m waiting at home, in bed, ready to take the earliest possible train tomorrow. This is a very long (2 week) business trip as well, so I emptied out my fridge in case something goes off. I really hope things work out and the trains start running tomorrow morning…
Plan was to come back to Nagoya tonight from Tokyo, instead decided to stop here. Not regretting the decision
These kinds of situations are sometimes the gateway to experiences outside of the norm. A break from the monotony of the universe. You should try to enjoy it. 🙂
They have big barriers over the Tokyo station JR line entrances and a station worker standing there when I walked by this evening. Lots of people sitting on the floor around the station.
