Hello! I’m kind of lost about this but correct me if I’m wrong:
My aunt wants to sponsor my student visa. I don’t have a relationship with my parents due to personal reasons. She meets the requirements however whenever I look up the question I see multiple contradictory answers.
-She can apply as my sponsor
-has to be my mother/father/sibling.
-the school I’m applying to said it’s a possible but the immigration needs a letter
-and another one says uncles and aunts cannot sponsor
I’ve tried to ask my school but they simply direct me to Japanese immigration website that doesn’t really answer me how I would go around this.
Is the process the same or different?
Does anyone have an answer or know how this process works? I’m suppose to start in October.

My first student visa, my aunt sponsored me.
I had to give birth certificates of my mom and uncle, and then my uncle and aunt’s marriage certificate.
This was in 2016 but it should be ok. They may need a letter from her stating she will sponsor you.
