Changing Apple account to Japan

Has anyone switched their Apple accounts to Japan, and if so, what happened with your Apple Music? Is the selection the same as in the US, or will I be losing a bit? I have created a second Apple account for Japan so I could download TVer and Hulu, but then switched back with no problem, so I’m deciding whether to use a separate account or just convert mine. If I do convert, will essential apps like Capital One, Vanguard etc still be updatable and downloadable (in case I buy a new device)?

  1. I changed my account to JP. I don’t know about the specific apps you mention, but in general some apps will be updatable and some won’t. Most are, but it depends on the developer and their choice of making apps globally available. Just check if the apps are available in the JP app store. If you want to be 100% safe, use a separate account. Just know that it’s going to be a pain switching between accounts.

The pain of switching between accounts was one of the reasons I switched to Android. Things are much easier there.

  2. I did not switch my Apple account because I have Apple Music and whole bunch of apps I can’t afford to lose.

  3. You can just make a second Japanese Apple account and then switch between that one and your home country account whenever you need to. It’s what I do.

It’s simple and easy although one annoying thing is that whenever you switch it deletes all your locally downloaded music from Apple Music (the music still stays in your library, just if you downloaded it from Apple Music then it becomes stream-only again and you would have to re-download)

  4. I just bought an iphone 13 from apple.jp with apple care for two years. Im a Canadian, does anyone know if apple care is international or valid in north america if purchased elsewhere?
