Title basically. Im running in to so many of them now that its becoming a frustrating experience. I know this is just the reality of Japanese but even so the whole point is to remember the reading and the meaning right, how can you do that if the thing you are supposed to be remembering actually has two or more answers.
Im also quite limited in my options too, because i use Migaku word lists i can’t exactly put the sentence on the front or it will import words i haven’t learned yet. Generally i have tried to combine them in to multi word cards but that isn’t always possible either.
Idk what i am even looking for with this honestly, advice i guess or maybe a new deck, is there any in the ‘core series’ that handled this better?
Edit: Core 2.3k looks promising, be a pain to start over again was 500 deep but maybe it will be worth it.

Kanji or context. It’s the same for English.
I’m confused. Do you have specific examples of these so-called “duplicates”?
what you need to do is use anki for desktop, consolidate your cards into the same “card type” with fields named the same and the same content in the fields. i put non-furigana kanji spellings in a field called “expression” for every deck. then do anki deduping through “find duplicates”. i keep a sequence of deck priorities where for instance core2k would be higher priority than core6k (or if one deck is higher quality it can be higher priority) then delete duplicates from lower priority decks

If there’s a word that’s indistinguishable from just the front card alone [like 荒い](https://i.imgur.com/m5ACe1v.png) I’ll merge them into the same card.
The only thing you lose from this is that there’s only one example sentence which most of the time doesn’t matter.
If this is the best approach I’m not sure but I’m 3.5k cards in and it’s been fine so far.
上がる has like 4 notes. I just try to remember all the ones I can. If upon flipping the card the meaning doesn’t even ring a bell, I would try again later.
If I encounter a duplicate, with one being kunyomi and one being onyomi, I add, in brackets, 訓読み or 音読み to the front of the card. If there are separate definitions, I right (2def), with 2 being replaced if I come across another. If there are multiple kunyomi or onyomi then I put (2R), with the R standing for reading. There are some other things too like 只 one card is an adverb and one is a noun, and for the humble form of 居る with the reading おる, I put (謙譲語)
