I am having difficulties finding a barber to trim my beard well ( trying to grow one).It seems like they are outright scared or have never done it based on reactions I get if I check some barbershop.
Am I just unlucky/not looking at right places?
I’d appreciate some recommendations for Kobe, Osaka (preferably Kobe, but I’d go to Osaka).

I’ve had a beard since the mid 90s and have only ever trimmed it myself. Maybe watch a YouTube video about it or something’
This is because they are literally two different occupations, with two different licenses. One can earn both but that’s rare and hairstylists outnumber barbers by about 10 to 1.

I drive nearly two hours to my barber in Gifu city.
Normal salons won’t do this, but real barbar shops and some salons will. You might just want to look for any place that says they do ひげ剃り or 顔剃り:

I’ve heard there are a few who do okay but I’ve actually had a couple over the last decade who offered to trim mine and did such an absolute shit job I now do it myself.
Look for the old run down barbers that specifically do wet shaves. I’ve found a few, and they always rock. 3000JPY for a haircut and wet shave I’d pay twice that overseas.
OP, search 床屋 and make sure they have a licensed 理容師. Mine is actually an obaachan who works with my barber.
