I was wondering how early before classes start do you receive your COE to enter Japan on a student visa. Is it a month before ? I’ve heard from many that you can enter Japan only 2 weeks before class starts though I’m not sure whether that depends on the school or if it applies to everyone the same. Has the amount of time changed after the pandemic or is it the same as pre-pandemic times? I would appreciate any input.

I have never heard of only being able to go 2 weeks early, only since a few days on this subreddit 😅 my friend who went on exchange stayed exactly the six months her visa was for, she got there earlier and went back home later
Totally depends on university. One sent me the CoE only ~5 weeks before moving in date, the other sent it 3 months before moving in. I’d say between 2-4 months before start of classes is common.
