So i’ve been doing duolingo (i know, but its easy, im busy and lazy but still want to practice my Japanese) and i’ve been seeing them use 「じゃないです」which I don’t know if it makes sense? My native-born teacher said that sentences could just be ended with じゃない, what are the thoughts?

Your instructor is correct, adding です only makes it more formal.
Duo is doing its job by making you ask questions
Keep using it since it fits your lifestyle
Casual positive: だ
Formal positive: です
Casual negative: じゃない
Formal negative: じゃありません or じゃないです
じゃ is short for では so you will also see things like ではない.
じゃないです makes sense. No worries.
～ないです and ～ません are both used in Colloquial Japanese tho it seems that the later is more assertive than the former
I don’t know if it’s grammatically correct, but it’s commonly used. I use it a lot and some of my kids do too and there’s no loss of meaning. So it’s fine 😊
There is nothing bad about practicing with duolingo, but I think you should first work on your basic grammar more (Imabi or Tae Kim).
It’s a thing. It’s the same structure as, say, おいしいです (negative forms are treated the same as い adjectives in Japanese).
