Common use of a sentence

Hello I have a question, is 「お腹がペコペコ」frequently used, even by adults? Or it is better to only use 「ペコペコ」 instead?

  1. It’s pretty common, just as 腹ペコ (see also 腹ペコあおむし – beloved Eric Carle book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.)

    I haven’t heard any adult men use it though.
