I really enjoy telling stories in English, though I can tell that despite my decent Japanese level, the way I structure them feels a bit bizarre and doesn’t get through as clearly. How do Japanese people usually recount stories to their buddies while drinking and stuff?
Secondary question, are there any Japanese YouTubers that do “storytime” type videos? (Not like the types for kids, but rather the type where the point of the video is just them talking into the camera charismatically telling a story)

Other than using the past tense, I’m not really sure what you’re asking. You explain the set-up and what happened, I imagine this would be much the same anywhere.
Okada Toshio san always tells interesting story.
