How much money should our Sponsor have in their account While we are applying for a school in Tokyo?

Hi, Can anybody please tell me, How much money should our Sponsor have in their bank account While we are applying for a japanese language school in Tokyo?.

I am very much confused because every school keeps saying different amount but the end of the day the word of immigration matters.

If anybody here has applied for school in Tokyo this year and have cleared their COE. Please let me know, How much money had you kept in your sponsor’s account for clearance?

  2. A bank account balance certificate showing that you or your guarantor have the needed money (usually at least 1600000 Yen).

Other statements I’ve come across are a minimum of 1,5 million. And it changes depending on the combination of the schools location and local immigration office.

  3. It depends on the duration of the course and what kind of visa you prefer to aim for.

From what I’ve been told by advisers on GoGoNihon you can apply for a 6 months, 1 year or 2 years visa (I can’t remember if you’re doing 18 months). Each one has different financial requirements that you’ll need to meet again if you need to extend the visa.

I was thinking of a school in Tokyo and was told for 6 months I’d need to prove 1.2mill yen balance + at least 2mill income in the last 2 years. For 1 year, 2mill balance and income. For 2 years, 4mill balance and 2mill income. And yea some schools have higher requirements due to their tuition and such so you need to check with the specific one.
