Why doesn’t Japanese news seem to ever talk about climate change? Admittedly I only know NHK, TBS, and Yahoo, but I never see climate change news there. When I do a search in Japanese and filter through news the only agencies that seem to keep up with Anglophone news on climate change are Japanese editions of those same agencies (BBC, Reuters, etc.)
Has anyone ever rented a campervan or RV to roadtrip around Hokkaido before? If so how was the experience and do you have any rental companies you would recommend?
Is anyone currently going through change of status of residence process at Shinagawa Immigration Office in Tokyo? I applied for student to humanities work visa change (company sponsored) and it has been two months with no word (visited the Immigration Office few weeks ago and got the usual please a little longer). I hear that they have been exceptionally busy in recent months but also hard not to worry thinking something is wrong and I cannot start my job before I get the visa.
How do those car shelf parking lots work? I’ve seen them from the train and online but never used one or seen one in action.
How do you get your car up there? Are they normal paid parking? How much do you trust the mechanism? Is it really more cost effective to have a car shelf than more land? How do you get your car back when you want to drive away?

Just wondering, but my husband and I are getting new, higher paying jobs (and also becoming seishain) later this year. My visa renewal would Be done around the end of the year. Usually I have to submit tax documents for us showing how much tax we pay and our income.. I’ve been getting 1 year visas and would like to improve my chances for a 3 year visa, so is it possible to submit some sort of paper from our new company showing our salary and seishain status alongside the tax documents (since the tax documents will be i believe last years taxes/income correct?) to show immigration that our situation has improved? I know that on the application I will be filling out the job/income section with our new jobs and incomes but I figure it would be nice to have some official paper there to prove that.
So my questions are: is that possible, and what would that document be/be called?

When did Tokyo Dome change their policy about bringing in alcohol for baseball games? Is that a pandemic thing? I remember back in 2019 or so it was possible to bring in up to 2 cans and they’d pour it into cups for you when getting in. Seems that no longer is permitted and as expected prices went up for any alcohol in the joint.

Im flying back home in September for the first time in four years via Helsinki with JAL to dublin. I’m so excited but not looking forward to the gruesome flight.

Visa renewal documents question!
For the 2 tax documents I need, is the 課税証明書 (kazeishomeisho, levied tax) is for this year reiwa 5 (2023)and the 納税証明書 (nozeishomeisho, already paid tax) reiwa 4 (2022). Is this correct? I think last time I renewed I got both for both years but they ended up not needing all of them.
I’m risking my first ever Thai Air Asia X flight to Bangkok at the end of the month (¥23,000 return! In 2023!).
Baggage is limited to 7KG (or pay more money). I bought a cheap fishing vest from a vintage store which is covered in pockets, in which i plan to put mobile batteries and anything heavy buy small enough.
Perhaps a long-shot, but other than looking a bit too much like a suicide-bomber, does anyone know if Air Asia are going to care or do anything about it?

I’m looking for experiences changing from domestic flights to international flights at Haneda airport.
From end of last year, the number of business trips to Europe has increased, but unfortunately Kansai Airport still has only few flights which don’t leave every day. Most of the times we had to use Emirates.
Last month I had a return flight from Frankfurt to Haneda with ANA and a flight with Starflyer to KIX. The ANA flight in Haneda didn’t stop at the terminal and I had to wait for the bus to the terminal. The time from exiting the plane, bus to terminal, going through immigration, picking up my luggage, to boarding the terminal shuttle bus was 1 hour.
What I want to know is the time for the other way, from Kansai Airport (or Itami) to Haneda to Europe. A lot of connections I find will give me only about 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours for transfer in Haneda. Recently the line for PR holder is almost empty, but I still worry that it will be too stressful.
Has anyone experience?
