Bites around my ankles

I noticed several dark red bites around my ankles. Before, I am have seen several posts about bed bugs. How did your bites look like?

On sunday, I spent some time outside and sat in a grass for a while. I registered something biting me, but now, the number of bites grew. Is there any chance I might have brought something from outside?

I am adding some pictures in the comment section. Are those from bed bugs? Fleas? One thing I know it’s definitely not from mosquitoes.

Edit:
– I haven’t seen any marks or lines on my bed sheet yet
-the room I sleep in is tatami style washitsu (our appointment is freshly renovated)
– it was all good until Sunday when I went outside
– bites are only around my ankles and below calves, nowhere else

  1. Certainly looks like bed bugs. If you keep waking up to this in the mornings then I’d safely assume it’s them.

  2. Painful itchy- can be ants. Just itchy likely mosquitoes. I don’t think bedbugs or you’d have them all over.

  3. I get them all the time over my ankles and feet, because I do a lot of gardening and walk the dog in my sandals.

I always assume they’re mosquitoes, who love to go for feet. But they could be any number of insects

Either way, get yourself some hydrocortisone cream called テラ・コートリル (in a tube with a pink and blue motif) from most pharmacies and use that, assuming you’re not allergic to it.

  4. Just go to a dermatologist. Lots of symptoms look very similar when it comes to skin reactions. Just go to a pro.

Could be you came into contact with a plant like stinging nettles. If left untreated it takes quite a while to clear up and spreads and is frustrating and irritating. With some cream you will find relief immediately.

  5. If they hurt I’d say they’re likely not from mosquitoes, I’d they’re just itchy likely mosquitoes.

  6. Since I am from HK so this is kind of usual thing happening near county side. It looks like a bite from mosquito, however normal mosquito bites only last a couple hours but midge bites trigger the release of histamine from your body and then allergies will happen. You gonna suffer for 1-2 weeks of itchy+painful feeling (looked at your photo and you developed some kind of skin allergy already), if you are getting too many bites or really uncomfortable you can buy those OTC Antihistamine drug to help you relief (usually you will not be able to sleep well after getting bite), or go straight to dermatologist for better/urgent treatment.

One major difference about midge and mosquito is, the former one has very short bite so even you have very thin long sleeve clothing it won’t bite through, the later one is larger so thin clothing can’t really block them 🙂

  7. My husband had some mystery bites like this last year. We did a few things: got rid of our area rug, washed all our sheets and dried in the dryer, and washed his shoes and put them in the sun to dry. Either one of those worked or whatever was biting him just went out of season, but they cleared up anyway.
