1. Sawara is awesome. They have two festivals (summer and autumn) which are among my favorites in Japan. I hope you checked out Inou Tadataka’s house. He’s a legit historical figure who was the first to map the entirety of Japan back in the late early 1800s. His house still stands on the banks of the river, and is a neat little aside to check out while there.
