Advice on what kind of lotion to get for a new tattoo.

As the title says.
Currently living in Japan and wanted to ask if anyone knew of any good lotions for a new tattoo.
My Japanese isn’t perfect especially with kanji reading, so I’m having trouble figuring out what a good lotion would be.

  1. Hi, depending on where you get your tattoo, i.e which studio, your artist might give you enough to last the duration of the healing process.

If they don’t, try the [Urea Cream from Shiseido](https://amzn.asia/d/3M9B2ao)
They sell it at most pharmacies and I’ve even seen it at Family Mart

  2. Honestly, vaseline is the go to in Japan. If you want an anti bacterial, you could get a cream to apply for the first few days (クロマイ-p or オロナイン).

Personally, I don’t bother much with antibacterial ointment ( if using saniderm).

  3. My artist in the US used to recommend Aquaphor Healing Ointment, which you can get on Amazon or iHerb.

When I got one in Japan, they recommended LUSH Ultra Balm, but unfortunately it’s not sold anymore. Honestly, I’d ask the artist. They probably have their own recommendations.

  4. Dove hand lotion is what I always use on my tattoos. Something neutral without a lot of perfumes is good.

  5. Can ask your artist no? Vaseline is always good if you have no other choice but don’t apply it too thick.
