Recrutement process in Japan

Hello everyone,

I’m planning to do a Working-Holiday Visa in Japan very soon and to better plan my arrival date I would like to know more about the recruitment process in Japan.
I heard that there is a traditionnal recrutment period for companies that is in April and, If I like the life in Japan, I was planning to start to search for a job at the half of my WHV. This would be around October 2022, and the end of my WHV would be either mid april or start of may.
My questions are:

* How long does a traditionnal recruitment process take usually ?
* If there is a trial period, would they grant me a temporary visa so I could conduct it ?
* Do you think it is worth for me move my departure date so that my WHV end later (june maybe ?)
* How much more jobs offer is there compared to the rest of the year ?

Context infos : I’m a web developper with around 2-3 years of experience and I have a JLPT N2

Thank you for your time reading this, let me know if you have any questions !

  1. Going to assume you have a degree, as you wont get the visa without one.

Traditional recruitment times wont apply to you as you arent a graduate hire.
There is like is all places a probation period, this is more a formality however.
No point moving departure dates etc as you are a mid career hire.

If you do like it there however, you will still have to return to your home country to apply for the visa etc just as a note, as you cannot directly transfer from a WHV to a Work visa anymore, that stopped several years ago.

It’s only for university students, because they graduate in March/April, so it doesn’t apply to you. Mid-career hiring happens any time during the year, no different from the rest of the world.

Recruitment for mid-career takes a couple of weeks to a couple of months. But since your a foreigner, you’d need to apply for a work visa, which takes up to 3-4 months (you can’t change visa from WHV to work visa afaik)

    >* If there is a trial period, would they grant me a temporary visa so I could conduct it ?

No, if there is a trial period, you need a regular work visa for that. If they hire from abroad, they arrange a regular visa, it’s nothing unusual.

Not really, that’s all up to you.

Maybe a little more than usual in April/September. But the biggest increase in these periods are internal hiring.
