Guarantor to obtain a visa

Hello everyone,

I have plans to obtain an evacuation visa in the coming months and I’m seeking some advice. The process requires a guarantor, but unfortunately I don’t currently have anyone in Japan whom I would feel comfortable asking for such a huge favor. I’m reaching out to you all for guidance and suggestions on how to find someone who can vouch for me.

Before proceeding, I plan to contact the embassy to inquire about any additional requirements specifically related to a guarantor for an evacuation visa. While I’m on it I would greatly appreciate hearing about your personal experiences or any insights you may have regarding finding a guarantor.

I’ve considered the possibility of finding a job in Japan, which seems like the most obvious choice. However, as I’m still on my way to achieving N2 proficiency in the language, I haven’t yet taken the language proficiency test. Currently, I would evaluate my language skills as a shaky N3 level.

On another note, I would appreciate it if you could share your experience obtaining a visa without a guarantor. Did you have anything that you had to provide on top of the regular process (additional documents, additional interviews etc.) How long did it take to obtain the visa? Did you face any significant issues during or after the application process?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this text. I appreciate your assistance or advice you can provide. However, even if you don’t have any specific advice for me I still want to wish you all a fantastic day!

  2. I wish you the best of luck! According to the Japanese embassy in Ukraine (website here:
    https://www.ua.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/11_000001_00213.html ):

    >2. If you wish to flee to Japan but do not have any family member nor acquaintance in Japan, please contact an Embassy or a Consulate-General of Japan in neighboring countries for consultation.

    >(Note) As provided by the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, the submission of a passport issued by a foreign government recognized by the Japanese Government or any authorized international organization, or a refugee travel document or any other certificate in lieu of the passport is required.
    >Those who do not possess such valid passport or document, please contact with the Japanese Embassy or Consulate, because of the possible issuance of a travel certificate issued by a Japanese consular officer, etc.

  3. The embassay website has a stipulation specifically for your situation on what you need to do:

    >2. If you wish to flee to Japan but do not have any family member nor acquaintance in Japan, please contact an Embassy or a Consulate-General of Japan in neighboring countries for consultation.
