Roman on Japanese tender

I’m watching a video of the daily life of a worker in Toyota, Japan, and I see the physical tender has the Roman script alphabet written on it to identify individual bills such as: “NIPPON GINKO “ or “FZ1784352”

Sorry I forgot to ask the question: why is it that it isn’t written in Japanese?

  1. It is written in Japanese on the front. It’s only romanized on the back, and only what it already says on the front.
