Living/Working in Fukui

I got invited for a casual interview for a Civil Construction Management Technician in Fukui. I’m even surprised I got invited for an interview even though it’s a casual one, especially considering i’m in materials science and engineering and not in civil. This is my first job interview ever (im graduating soon). They posted the salary at 180000JPY. There’s allowance and housing assistance but it isn’t much.

Is there anything I should take note of and how is working and living in Fukui?

Edit: Thank you for all the replies! I might make another post depending on how the interview goes.

That’s less than a basic English-teaching salary, surely you’re being lowballed even for the countryside?

  2. Minimum wage in Fukui is 830yen per hour. At 180,000yen that works out to be a hair under 217 hours. If you’re working 9 hours a day you’d be earning less than you would at minimum wage after 25 days of work in a month.

I hope they’ve got some killer benefits.

  3. ï¿¥1,800,000 is less than what you could make working full-time at a conbini or chain restaurant or whatever at a rate of ï¿¥1000/hr.

    This is concerning.
