Is it a long wait to get a document from a local (national) tax office?

I know each office is different, and it depends on the time of the year, but, generally, is it a long wait to get a document from a local (national) tax office? I’m thinking of going to my local office to get a sonosan, a record of all the taxes I’ve paid in Japan. Any ideas roughly how long I might have to be in the office?

Update: Went to my local tax office. It was about 400 yen. I was the first person of the day. It took no more than 20 minutes total time.

  1. Took me like 30 minutes back in 2019. Tax office should be pretty empty this time of year.

  2. I recall it wasn’t a trivial wait, but it is possible to request it by mail as opposed to going to the office.

You have to submit a request document and a revenue stamp plus some other minor stuff.
