Is this a doable itinerary with a baby?

Hi all, we are planning a 3 week trip to Japan from Sydney with our baby who will be 1 yo in October. Trying to put together a draft itinerary so very flexible and open to suggestions.

Tokyo > Osaka/Kyoto > Takayama > Hakone > Tokyo
Or
Tokyo > Hakone > Hiroshima > Osaka/Kyoto > Tokyo

As for our interests, we love the mountains and the ocean however we are focusing more on the trip not being too exhausting and somewhat enjoyable for the little one and us. We stay in one place at least 4 days in a row.

Another question is should we buy a 14 day JR pass? Would it pay off? Is it worth getting the green pass with the baby?
Will be booking accommodation once the above is finalised.
Appreciate your help.

  2. I don’t hear people saying the Green pass is worth the extra money. Ordinary trains are already pretty nice.

The only way to see if the JR Pass is going to work for you is checking one of the calculators.
