Need help with recipe

Hi everyone, I was just in Japan on my honeymoon and we had some vegan ramen at T’s tantan in Tokyo station and there was this soy meat that I cant for the life of me figure out. It looked like it was pounded or something and had the look and texture of meat and was roasted/grilled. It was also delicious. The English text in the menu says its soy meat char-siu but i dont think that’s right since it wasn’t bbq. And it might be an imitation of chashu but all the recipes i find of that with soy look like cooked spam. Can anyone help me out here? Thank you!

  1. I believe [the menu](https://foods.jr-cross.co.jp/files/bgeditor/other/1036__VOKAmXPjgZ-jgpPjgZ-jgpPvvIjmnbHkuqzjg7vkuIrph47vvIlHTQ-D-.pdf) is saying is that it’s their version of soy-based chashu. It says the same in Japanese.

I don’t know what the English name for the product is, but I think it’s just a large cut of their block-type soy meant. They [used to sell something similar on their website](https://web.archive.org/web/20220522065811/http://ts-restaurant.shop-pro.jp/?pid=90625094), and it’s a [fairly common type meat alternative](https://www.marukome.co.jp/product/detail/daizu_029/) available nowadays.
