Where do you guys find out about stand up comedy events?

Couple of months ago Russell Peters was here and I missed it. I believe Jim Jefferies was also here sometime ago.
I imagine not many stand up comedians come to Tokyo and I always miss the events.
Where do you guys find out about these?

  1. Same as you: I find out about great comedians coming to Japan, because I come across a” here’s my set from Tokyo!” Video on YouTube from when they came through… One to two months before!

So yeah, I’m interested too : I love good stand up comedy

  2. Facebook ads.

I was lucky enough to find out and get tickets to see Dave Chappelle when he did a sudden show here.

Also it helps to follow event companies on Instagram/Facebook as they will always advertise. It sucks seeing all the garbage posts, but you won’t miss out.

For example, I currently follow Creative Man productions who book concerts waiting for Iron Maiden to reschedule their cancelled tour from a few years ago.

  3. There’s also this sight called https://gigle.jp that you can search your area on and they’ll show you upcoming concerts there. I’m not sure if they do comedians specifically, but it’s worth a check!

  4. There’s always Tokyo comedy bar in shibuya they have something going every night with local and new comedians

  5. I find out afterward, usually.

Great question, hopefully someone can help us out ahha

  6. I found out about the Jim Jefferies show by listening to his podcast. He announced it like 5 months in advance.

  7. Off topic but has anyone here gotten into stand up comedy? Been feeling to give it a go for fun. What’s the local community like?
