Statement of Physician with specific learning difficulties

Hey guys,

so i’ve literally just been diagnosed with dyslexia and was wondering what people do for the application when saying they have it? I don’t have a medical professional to fill out the form since it’s not really a medical condition so I just wanted to get on here and see what the general consensus is. I’ve also sent JET UK an email but I am stressseeeddddddddd.

  1. It may not be a medical condition but it is something that could impact your ability to do the job. I’d mention it but also talk about how you’re dealing with it and how it won’t impede your ability to teach English.

  2. Is a statement of physician required for all applicants or just those with conditions to disclose? I have no medications or diagnosed conditions but I am unsure as to whether or not I need to submit the document.

  3. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s only necessary if your condition will require some kind of medication and frequent doctor visits. You can double-check, but I don’t think “dyslexia” is classified as a mental issue. I have dyslexia as well and did not find it necessary to disclose.

You must have your doctor complete the 2023 Statement of Physician Form under the following circumstances:

“If you are consulting a physician or other professional on more than one occasion regarding a physical health issue”

“If you have ever consulted a physician or other health professional regarding a mental health issue”

  4. hey, so i did end up emailing JET and they said to mention it but no need to provide a medical statement for dyslexia/ specific learning difficulties but we should mention them and they may want more explanation later on in the processes. i’m taking the approach of being 100% honest because i am not ready to be caught out in an interview. thank you all for your help!!
