JP spouse and I moving back Qs

JP national and UK national married in Shinjuku over 10 years ago have been living in UK for last 3 years. We are going back to japan. Oh the joys.

Question(s):
Can we go together? With me on tourist visa then ‘switch at Shinagawa gaijin center’ to spouse visa (once she has secured work and can act as sponsor etc).

That’s it really. We are currently planning for her to return, find a job etc etc do CoE then we dance around getting the spouse visa for my arrival at the airport. Pain in the ass.

Or am I going to get bounced at immigration because they tightened things up in the last decade?
