Hello everyone,
I am a current student living in Kansai region and I will be going home to visit family soon! I want to take souvenirs and treats home, especially some strong zeroes for my friends at home to try. I was wondering what the rules are for taking alcohol through security to the U.S. (whether it is better to store it in checked luggage or carry on) or if i can mail it home ahead of time. Does anyone know which one allows strong zeroes to be taken, or if it is allowed at all? I know I can buy alcohol at the airport after security but I don’t want to take the chance that it is not there or limited flavors.
All help would be so appreciated! Thank you so much!

No to mailing. Checked bag only, and I don’t remember the limits.

According to this ANA page, there are no restrictions on the amount of alcohol you can have in luggage that is checked in for beverages of alcohol content of 24% or less.
Of course, you have to stay within the luggage weight limit per person.
Check your airline’s limits. Should be fine in CHECKED luggage.
If you take them in checked luggage, the US customs limit is 1 liter of alcohol, so that’s either 2 or 3 cans depending on if they are 350 mL or 330 mL. If you want to take more, be sure to declare them all to customs, but since they are cheap and a low percent alcohol, tax and duty will be minimal and might be waived.
Some airports with a convenience store after security and immigration might have them, but I don’t know if they have all reopened, what flavors they have, or whether they have strong zero at all. Convenience stores pre-security should be better but you’ll need to check them.
