Quality of JINS Progressive/ Bifocal lenses

So the time has come for me to need special lenses to accommodate seeing far away in reading. I went to JINS for some cheap frames + 5,000 yen for the “enkin” lens. Price seemed reasonable but I also checked out another eyeglass shop that offered enkin lenses (Nikon) with various quality from basic (plus 2000 yen) , premium (plus 9,000 yen) to top of the line (I forget, but I think it was at least 30,000 yen). Essentially lines look less distorted the better the quality. Comparing it to JINS, which quality would JINS fall under? It seem to be an in-house brand lens but I am assuming its comparable to the basic one simply because it’s a budget eyeglass shop. Has anyone have experience with their enkin lens? I wouldn’t mind the more expensive option if it has better quality, but can’t really compare with JINS without data.

Also “enkin” does not necessarily mean linear bifocal right? It seems from the description that it is actually progressive.

EDIT: I am a DUMBASS. I went to Zoff not JINS! Any info on Zoff bifocals appreciated!

  1. Can’t speak about the bifocals directly, but Jins uses credible lenses companies. Many of the speciality lenses are ordered from a lens manufacturer. Even their in-house brand is done by Nikon if you look at the details on the package

  2. I have the JINS progressive lenses for distance and reading. There are no lines, and I consider the quality to be consistent with any other shop I have used either here or in the US. The advantage of JINS is that you have one year to adjust the prescription at no charge. The disadvantage (for me) is that wearing progressive lenses is annoying: I either have to tilt up slightly to read or tilt down slightly to see clearly for distance—and it makes me a little dizzy at first.

  3. JINS progressive lenses are not the latest technology available on the market but they are totally decent.
Unless you have been used to high end free form lenses you should not have too much issues using them.

Needless to say though but do not chose a frame which I too narrow.
