  1. Looking for a direct hire ALT job, anywhere in Japan is fine 🙂

Entry level (1.5 years exp as a private teacher, No experience as an ALT)

If you happen to know of a vacancy/upcoming job opening, I’d appreciate if you could let me know about it 🙏

  2. Currently residing In Japan, looking for a direct hire ALT job for next school year. Are those positions only listed on BOE or prefecture websites at this point?

  3. Does anyone have some good examples of resumes for applying to university jobs. Trying to update resume and other things and wanna get a feel for design, language, and all the other little bits and bobs.

  4. Anyone know good ALT jobs in the Kanto region? I can’t work at my current job another day, and my apartment is old and horrific. I need to get out. Preferably before September.

  5. Hi there! I am looking to apply to teach in an IS in Japan next year (fall 2024) and am feeling really down about how difficult it might be.

I currently work for a large school board in Toronto. I have a masters degree in primary/junior teaching from Canada’s top education school. I mainly teach spec ed, and have many additional qualifications including in teaching math, teaching students with ASD/intellectual disabilities, etc. I have one year of occasional/supply teaching, and one year of half-time (for childcare reasons – I have a toddler). I will be teaching full-time next year. In Ontario, it takes a long time to become a permanent teacher, so it can be tricky when thinking about meeting these school’s requirements for “full time teaching” experience.

I know that I won’t get into ASIJ or any of the top schools, given I will only have 2 years of experience teaching my own classes (3 years altogether including supply teaching). I was wondering what people’s experiences with lower-tier IS schools might be. Unfortunately I want to be in Japan as my partner is doing a PhD in Tokyo, so I don’t have the option to go to another country to gain experience first. Any info would be so so helpful! Thank you so much!

  6. Ive been applying looking for a new teaching job in Tokyo since February. Ive had a ton of interviews but no bites. One place led me on for four interviews and then silence. I’ve been teaching in Japan for 7+ years to children and adults.

  7. Hi everyone, exchange student here. I’ll be done with my master’s degree at the end of the semester, and I would like to get into teaching right after that. Is it common to apply while still in uni as a way to secure a job ? Or should I wait untill I’ve officially graduated ? Thanks !
