Japanese Grad School Application

I applied to an international Japanese grad school in its first intake. According to the guidelines, the university will reach out to the professor for a letter of recommendation if they find it necessary. My professor has not received a request mail yet. The result is due in less than 10 days. Is this normal for Japanese universities? My friends who have applied to American and Canadian grad schools have faced different scenarios.

If the guidelines say they’ll reach out if they find it necessary, what’s the question? Obviously they didn’t find it necessary.

*Why* they didn’t find it necessary is, of course another question. It could be because they found the rest of your package satisfactory enough that they felt they didn’t need the recommendation. Or it could be the opposite, that they decided to reject you early enough in the process that the recommendation was irrelevant. It’s impossible to say. Pretty much all you can do is wait for the results.

  2. May I ask what you study? I’m almost done with my bachelor and I’m considering continuing my studies in Japan
