Selling a car and car loan questions!

How’s it going y’all? I’m just wondering if anyone might have knowledge/experience in selling and getting a car loan? The reason why I ask is for one, I want to sell my car privately and I have no experience doing it on a Spouse Visa. I only sold a few cars when I had SOFA status and it was easy. So does anyone know if it’s a similar process or is it more complicated on Spouse Visa? If so, do you know what documents are required?

As for a car loan, my wife will be the one applying for it since I figured that a Japanese National with a stable job will more than likely get approved compared to a foreigner on a Spouse Visa. For those with experience, should we go to a bank for a loan or utilize a dealership to finance? What APR/Interest rates is acceptable in Japan? Last but not least, any recommended places to apply for a loan? Or are most banks about the same regarding APR/interest rates?

Any info or suggestions is much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

  1. Do you have a Datsun 510 for sale for around $6-8K?

You used to be SOFA so I would assume there’s a base close by, you can sell to them. They would need to get the paperwork from PMO. Unless you have a really popular car, Japanese aren’t really big on buying used cars. I used to work at a Japanese car dealerships, big name company, most were SOFA looking for a better car than a beat to dirt base car that probably never had an oil change.

For the loan I would assume your wife would need to show proof of employment, that’s what my wife had to do.
