On the morning of the 13th, a fire broke out in Nagasaki City Peace Park, burning the 1,000 paper cranes and flower offerings dedicated to atomic bomb victims at the park’s flower offering stand. The police arrested a 23-year-old Nagasaki prefectural worker on the spot for destruction of property after he admitted to setting the fire.

The people in Nagasaki are great. I bet there are kids and volunteers already making paper cranes to replace them and in less than a week they will have even more than they started with.
