I did 4 in 5 years and got a new one no issues. So my guess is no.
I change every 2-3 years never had an issue
Sounds pretty common at least in the software development industry. Staying in a job more than 3-4 years is already the high end of the spectrum.
I stayed at my first two jobs based in Japan respectively 1 and 4 years. Renewed my visa multiple times during that period.
It didn’t prevent me from getting PR a couple years later.
Don’t think it will be an issue, but they will most likely give you one-year.
Definitely not. Immigration is wild. Some people at my current company have perfect records and have been with the company for 5 years and keep getting 1 year renewed repeatedly.
Meanwhile when I renewed my visa, I’m on my 4th job in Japan in 3 years and got another 3 years on my visa.
There’s truly no rhyme or reason but I wouldn’t say changing jobs is a particularly big flag.
from what I know, they won’t deny your renewal if you job hop a lot. But they *might* show their disapproval by giving you 1 year visas.
No one knows for sure, it’s a real black box.
No, but there is a chance they will reduce the period. Mine was reduced from a 5 to a 3 to a 1 year. The only reasoning I got out of them was changing jobs (even the company leaving Japan wasn’t good enough excuse).
Nope. But I wouldn’t make a habit of renewing your visa with a company just to quit as soon as you have it if you can help it.
I asked about this at a consultation because I’m changing residency status twice in less than 6 months due to leaving a job because of harassment… I was told immigration wouldn’t care because it’s normal to change jobs. They might only give you one year instead of 3 or 5 and they *might* ask why but if you just explain it’s for better pay or better treatment, they generally will not care.
As long as you have COE, you are paying taxes, nenkin then you are okay.
