Interested if Canada will do similar. I do prefer in person, but I understand it’s not convenient for everyone.

As someone residing out of country right now I’m so glad I don’t have to take a flight home lol
I wonder if this will be the format moving forward. They don’t need to keep it virtual at this point, but choose to stick to Zoom.
Its probably cheaper, more convenient, and since it has worked for the last few years, why get rid of it? The online interview was advantageous to me since I only had a blazer and not a full suit at the time. I also didn’t have to commute to the consulate.
I think this is the right decision. Good luck everyone!
For the UK ours says in person so either embassy of Japan London or Edinburgh until told otherwise. Either way good luck to anyone who gets an interview!
