Hi!
I am from Europe and I always dreamed of changing my name to Japanese name, as I always disliked mine, because of my past. I always liked the name Seiko for personal reasons, and my friends call me that as a nickname. I wanted to ask, if I wanted to change it, would it be disrespectful as I am not Japanese/Asian?
Of course I am directly asking anyone here who is Asian and their view of it.
Thank you for your answers in advance!
Have a nice day.

Non-Asian westerner here, I think you should be able to change your name to whatever you want, if you feel like it’s a better fit for you. Just be prepared for some questions when you start introducing yourself.
It is extremely common for Japanese people to adopt a Western name
but, changing your name will not address the issues of your past
