Itinerary for June 2024 any advice appreciated especially for Kyoto/Osaka portion Tokyo/ Hakone / Kyoto/ Osaka back to Tokyo

We will be traveling with a 7 year old and my husband and I.

Fly to Haneda airport
June 11 Explore area around where we are staying take it easy possible jet lag get our bearings pick up suica card and pocket wifi

June 12 Day 2 – find breakfast. Asakusa sensoji temple and shopping street/ UENO park akihabara(electric town) Kanda Myogin shrine

June 13 Day 3 – Tokyo Metro Ginza Line 30 minutes to Shibuya station. Harajuku opens 11am. Meiji shrine and yoyogi park and garden open 9am do first. Takeshita Dori street. Hedgehog cafe HARRY Harajuku terrace has otters opens 12 noon. Cat street. Shibuya afternoon. Hachiko statue at Shibuya crossing. Shibuya sky 6:30pm for a 7ish sunset. 109 building mall. Shibuya parco has Nintendo store and shonen jump store.

June 14 Day 4 – JR Yamanote Line Exit at Kanda then Chuo line to Shinjuku station 21 minutes. Shinjuku National garden. Hanazono ginja shrine. ARTNIA Square Enix café. Kabukicho St. has Godzilla a must at night and tokyu kabukicho tower large entertainment complex. lots of food cat billboard here. Maybe omoide yokocho “drinking st” shopping just exploring. Shinokubo near by and is a Korea town

June 15 Day 5 – Yamanote line to Ginza 12 minutes. Ginza area. breakfast at Tsukiji outer fish market. Pokémon cafe? need reservation and store. Art aquarium. Department stores.

June 16 Day 6 – Toei Bus or train about 25 minutes. Tokyo skytree tallest tower in world. Contains sumida aquarium. Kirby cafe nearby. Ghibli museum either this day or when we come back to Tokyo it’s about an hour away.

June 17 Day 7 – Train 39 minutes to odiaba. Rent coin locker for luggage and then 45 minutes to Disney area after. Change hotels closer to Tokyo Disneyland and visit odaiba area. TeamLab planets. Gundam statue and divercity Tokyo plaza mall. unko museum

June 18- 20 Days 8-10 Tokyo DisneySea x2 days and Disneyland x1 day

June 21 Day 10 – Ship luggage to Kyoto and take backpacks with essentials. Romancé car from Shinjuku station must reserve seats ahead of time to Hakone-Yumoto station 1 HR 1/2
Do Hakone loop and then check in to ryokan Hakone Airu.

June 22 Day 11 – Visit the open air museum and then travel to Kyoto by train from Odawara station. Nishiki market for food they close at like 6pm maybe Kamo River night walk. Yasaka shrine

June 23 Day 12 – Super early start to Fushimi Inari shrine possibly 2-3 hour hike we don’t have to do the whole things there’s a stopping point midway with shops. Okamoto kimono rental 7000 yen each to take home. Gion. kiyomizudera temple. Tatsumi bridge(memoirs of a geisha). just walk around explore

June 24 Day 13 -Arashiyama bamboo forest early in the morning. Tenruji temple. Arashiyama monkey park next and bridge and town to explore for the day. Kinkakuji golden temple.

June 25 Day 14 – Train to Osaka. Stay near dotonbori explore or Shinsebashi shopping street (has Pokémon cafe and uncle rikerus cheesecake. Do boat tour in Dotonbori. Takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

June 26 Day 15 – Universal studios day

June 27 Day 16 – Osaka castle. Osaka museum of history. Explore Kita/umeda umeda sky building. hep5 mall and Ferris wheel. Osaka aquarium

June 28 Day 17- Kuromon market breakfast. Americamura shopping. Cup noodle museum. Zaou fish your own fish restaurant anything else we want to explore. Namba Yasaka shrine (Lion head shrine)

June 29 Day 18 – Shinkansen back to Tokyo. 2.5 hour ride check into hotel and explore whatever we want. Maybe do ghibli museum this day.

June 30-July 1st Day 19-20 go back and do things we missed or more shopping. Would like to fit in Ikebukuro area has Animate store large anime store

July 2nd Day 21 – Fly home

  1. I just spent a week at the Keihan Hotel Asakusa. It’s a really nice little hotel in Asakusa, a five minute walk to Sensoji temple. I think it’s rather affordable too. It’s on the Tokyo Metro Ginza line and Tsukuba express line (there might be others but I don’t know for sure). If you stay there, you can see Sensoji open up at 6am. The monks chant and it’s a really cool thing.

    You have most of the cool things in Kyoto. I’d recommend Sanjuusangendo, Kodaiji, and Ryozen Kannon Temple. The last two are fairly close to Kiyomizu.

  2. It might save time to take a train to Tokyo station, then a direct bus to Disney, 25 minutes. Get the Disney app, i used it to check out show times and best rides
