I am less than 5 ft tall and there’s an Obon festival. Everything is too big for me.
How do I adjust a yukata with a shoulder width twice as long as my actual shoulder width?
How short should I shorten a yukata to? And how long and wide should a men’s obi belt be compared to waist size (The yukata which I can get in time says it comes with an obi belt, but the belt is too narrow for what I can find on the internet about belt size, but I have to take more or less a foot worth of fabric off of the bottom. One pattern I really like, I might dare to get in a Large just because I really like the fabric and that is the smallest size they have, however it’s 28″ shoulder to shoulder, however I am only 15″ shoulder to shoulder. The smallest size for anything else is Medium which is 25.5″ shoulder to shoulder.)?
And the sleeves will come within a few inches of my wrist or right up to my wrist. How much should I shorten the sleeves?

I assume you’re female.
The lengths are standard. You’re supposed to tie a belt at your waist, then lift the excess until the hem is ankle height. The rest goes over the belt.
For the width, that might be tough.
Try Googling “how to wear yukata” to find/see the how to’s
Here’s a couple of random sites that seem to be a good place to start

Scroll down to the “How to put on a “color yukata” section for how to wear an “oversized” yukata.
https://www.wikihow.com/Wear-a-Yukata
seems to apply as well.
Hope this made sense and was helpful.
Have fun and eat some goodies for me!
I never knew how sizes work, I just go to the renting place and they measure for me.
