Howdy fellow travelers! I’m in the middle of my Japan trip and I am looking for recommendations for flea markets or antique / vintage / second hand shops.
The rest of my trip includes a few days each in:
Kanazawa
Niigata
Tsuruoka
Sendai
Tokyo (very close to Haneda airport, just to make the last two days easy on us for leaving)
Of course I did do some google work – but I noticed that when I look up things in English – I really only get recommendations in Tokyo or Kyoto or Osaka if I’m lucky.
While my travel partner does speak Japanese, she is not so good with reading/writing so we got stuck there as well.

Well the greatest number of vintage shops in Japan are in Tokyo. If you mean clothing, it’s mostly in Koenji, Shimokitazawa, Nakameguro, some in Ueno, Harajuku.
As for antiques they’re not as common and rarely grouped together. I’ve seen some in Yanaka and Asakusa.
Looking for 骨董品店 in Google Maps gives decent results.
Sadly I don’t have much knowledge about other cities and many of those stores are not properly categorized on Google Maps or have no online presence at all.
