Drugged in nichome?

So I think somebody slipped something in my drink last night. Thankfully my friends got me a cab home and I made it back to my home area but I’m realizing I don’t think I just drank too much, this feels different. I was pretty drunk already and sitting at a bar by myself so I’m so sure someone saw the perfect opportunity. Anyway it’s now the day after and I’m reading that most date rape drugs metabolize by this time so it isn’t worth it to get tested now. Just wondering if anyone has any advice bc I’m pretty emotionally shook up about it.

  1. The same rules apply in any bar, in any city, in any country. Be aware of where your drink is at all times, and if you left it unattended for any period of time dump it and get another. Japan is no exception to this.

  2. I and a friend got drugged in roppongi before thankfully at different times so those nights just ended super early. Nothing really to do besides don’t drink alone + always keep your drink in your hand. Police wont really be able to help with anything and I’m not sure of any long term effects from the date rape drugs after only one dosing.

As with anything in life complacency kills.

  3. From a health perspective, get some Pocari or Aquarius (or hydration mix) to help yourself rehydrate properly. Sorry that happened to you.

  4. I’m so sorry this happened to you.

I’d go to a hospital now and tell them what happened.

  5. There was an incident in nichome this time last year too. It happened at Dragon on a Sunday night. Someone offered her drinks, which happened to be spiked. That was a bold move since Sunday nights at dragon would only have less than 20 people.

Sorry this happened to you, and I hope you’re feeling better now. Just sad since there might be more of this incidents in nichome recently than we’re aware of.

  6. Unfortunately it’s common in those areas. My advice is to not go to those areas. There are sooooo many better and safer areas in Tokyo to drink and dance .

  7. Don’t drink alone, always keep your drink with you, only accept a drink from the bartender (better if you see them pour/make it).

It’s the same everywhere, I’ve had the experience of helping girls who were clearly given something onto taxis in Roppongi/Shinjuku.

And keep hydrating with something that isn’t alcohol.

Don’t let this keep you from having fun nights out, but be careful and have backup.

  8. Which bar was it, if you don’t mind me asking? Feel free to dm me if you don’t want to share publicly.

  9. It happened to me in Osaka 6years ago.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have anyone to protect me 😔

  10. Rohypnol has some distinct side effects apparently that can last longer then the drugs stay in your system. Might be worth to keep an eye on that and report to the police anyway. I’m really glad nothing happened to you but please don’t return to that place and never leave your drink unattended even for a few seconds. I think Amazon sells covers that you can bring when going out to minimize the risk of getting spiked. Stay safe 🫶💚

  11. In 2013, my drink was spiked in Nichome, I ended up falling down some stairs and hitting my head really bad, 600,000 yen later after hospital bills, I decided to leave Japan. Then I saw a guy in London do it and realised it’s a city thing and shouldn’t have tainted my opinion. Just be cautious with drinks.
