Can I model in Japan during my stay using the Working Holiday Visa?

Not sure if I’m overthinking this or I’ve missed something but as the title says:

I have no professional modelling experience and I was wondering if programs like World Unite would help me find a modelling job as they would do for teaching or working in a restaurant for example.

  1. The good news is: yes, the visa *allows* you to undertake said job.

The bad news is: I very much doubt they’ll help you find a modeling job. You’re gonna have to find an agency yourself. Or find the gigs yourself.

  2. Like /u/tchuckss mentioned, modeling is permitted under the Working Holiday visa… With exceptions. You’re not allowed to do any sort of “adult” work.

That said… You have no modeling experience. It is ***highly*** unlikely that any agency is going to be interested in working with you. With no experience you’re going to need to search out individual gigs on your own.

You will need a “day job” to pay the bills, or a lot of savings to burn, because modeling at that level isn’t really a sustainable career in terms of pay. Gigs won’t be frequent, and they won’t pay a lot.

World Unite absolutely will ***not*** set you up with a modeling gig. They feed people into teaching and restaurant work because those are easy jobs that don’t require a lot of Japanese. They’ve got fixed partners and an existing pipeline.
