  3. Kevin saying at Dominion they should put the AEW tag belts on House of Torture at Forbidden Door to get them out of the company and then being announced for Collision the next week…he DOES like them!

  7. He says he’s doing both AEW and NJPW. I would guess that means he does fewer full NJPW tours in Japan, maybe just G1, BOSJ, and NJ Cup. Which, come to think of it, is basically all he does now anyway.

  8. Ranallo would’ve been perfect for this but I’ll take this announce team. Nigel and Kelly will be a great paring along with Jim Ross!

  9. Kevin Kelly is great. His NJPW commentary career has been top tier. Him, Chris Charlton, Don, Rocky, Gino in their various combinations really made NJPW even more enjoyable over the years. If he ends up doing AEW full time, it’s a big big loss to NJPW. Hopefully he does both because I’d love to hear him on AEW but don’t wanna lose him in NJPW.

  11. While this is a big W for AEW, I think Kevin Kelly really has been the voice for NJPW for me since I started watching so many years ago. I associate that man with so many moments.

  14. I hope this isn’t the start of Kevin leaving NJPW. I know he’s slotted for G1, but I would imagine the shorter travel will probably be more appealing to him over time.

    It’s selfish, but I do hope he can juggle both promotions. Him and Chris have created something special with their commentary over the years. Few years ago, it used to be that “you weren’t getting the real experience without Japanese commentary”, but Dominion was probably about as perfect as a commentary team can get.

    It’s too bad Gino got shot at the end though.

    Hopefully this will not remove him fully from his NJPW work.

  22. I definitely think this will have some conflict at least once? Maybe not because of time zones? But he’s busy *every* Saturday?

  23. JR really shouldn’t be doing anything but Rampage and sitdown interviews, he can’t handle 2 hours now sadly (which is obviously due to a combination of his health/age).

  26. Wow, Kevin is my favorite announcer. I would even watch Rampage if he called that show.

  27. Tony Khan really sees NJPW as a garage sale and is just going to take anything that isn’t nailed down.

    Too bad money can’t buy taste…

  29. Well, this will rule Kevin attending any NJPW event that takes place on a Saturday or Sunday.

    Unless he’ll call matches and shows remotely (like with some of the COVID-era events) I wonder who NJPW will get to fill-in?

  30. Now the big question is, which finisher in AEW will he have the most obnoxious call for that will get certain fans to hate him?

    My money is on “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!”
