Health problems ever since arriving

I arrived in Japan almost a year ago and ever since then I’ve been experiencing various problems, such as getting multiple itchy bumps on the outer part of my forearms, losing hair (this one is pretty common I heard), lower back pain, a very tiny spot on my throat itching ever since spring started, and a few other things. Idek what exactly my question is, but if anyone has advice for any of these or in general when it comes to health, please send them my way!

  1. Honestly, a lot of these symptoms seem like some sort of allergy. You should find an allergist, preferably with a dermatologist in the same clinic. I used to get a rash when I first arrived and also itchy eyes and throat. Turned out I was allergic to Ine which I never came across in my home country.

  2. A few years back I got tested for allergies at my local clinic if that helps.

  3. When I first arrived, I had some bad allergies, diarrhea which I chalked it up to being in a new environment. Gradually, the severity of it all went down.

  4. It could be a combo of allergies, different lifestyle, and different diet.

When I moved to Japan the first time, I lost 5kg and I am short dude. 5kg is alot on me. Also, my back tends to hurt here. Probably more walking, Idk. Maybe air pressure? I developed kafunsho after 10 years of being here.

You can ask your doctor for an allergy test. Won’t hurt.

  5. Some things may be aging, i.e., you’d have had them if you’d stayed in your home country. But, anyway, go to a Dr and ask/

Also, for lower back pain, try sitting differently when working, and see if it continues if you sleep for a few nights in a different bed

  6. Some of that could be sensitivity to Japanese soaps and laundry detergents. Try different products or order ones you’re more used to from online sites. Lower back pain—if you’re taller than 160cm you could be having a typical reaction to low Japanese chairs and train seats. My husband has our couch up on wooden planks and sits on a thick cushion at work.

  7. I concur that it could be allergies. The losing hair makes me think it could also be stress or dietary. Moving to another country is very stressful and I definitely had some stress-related health problems when I first moved. I agree with everyone else that allergy testing is a good move.
