If I will change Job and work without overhours for less income, can I have problem with PR renewal?

  1. Once you have PR, it’s permanent unless you majorly screw up and have it revoked. You can change jobs and you don’t have to inform immigration about the job change and you’re not limited to any kind of jobs like you are under other visa statuses. The only thing you renew is your zairyu card every seven years, not your PR status.

  2. PR renewal is 1 page and takes 15 minutes. Because it’s renewing the card, it’s not renewing the status of residency, all they’re doing is printing you a new card good for 7 more years.

I’m still salty though that they make it 7 years from the day you renewed not from the expiry of the old card – was easy to remember that my old card expired on Christmas Day…

  3. PR means ‘permanent resident’. You do not have to renew it. You can stop working completely if you want to (and are able to support yourself).
