The Return of r/LearnJapanese!

In support of the protest of Reddit’s policy changes, this sub went private on June 12th.

We have received a lot of requests (1k+) for the subreddit to be opened for the purpose of viewing our guides and resources, and even a threat from Reddit Admins.

Despite these threats being in direct violation of the Reddit Moderation Policies, we have decided to open the subreddit in restricted mode. This means that all posts and content can be viewed and comments can be made in the Daily Questions Thread, but new posts can not be made.

In the coming days we intend to look into re-working the following to ensure this sub can continue to run smoothly:

* Rules
* Wiki
* Auto-mod capabilities

If you have any suggestions for adjustments in any of these 3 areas or any other recommendations, please send us a modmail or leave a comment here.

Check out https://morg.systems/Japanese as they have information if you don’t know what to work on.

  1. I suggest a rule change where all posts have to begin with “Spez is a greedy little pig boy”

  2. I have to imagine they’re going to eventually make you guys un-restrict it too so why not get out ahead of it

  3. I would suggest implementing a rule where each post must contain “fuck u/spez” somewhere in it

  4. Doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t hurt Reddit in any way and only hurts us.

  5. I’m glad that this place is finally open again, too many dead links.

    Having said that, you guys took this place offline without a vote, without considerations for the community all to take part in what has been a pretty disinformation fuelled campaign.

    I personally don’t think you’ve read the code of conduct and are just referring to the same 2 or 3 snippets/screenshots that get shared around. Whilst the rules don’t specifically say “In the event of a mass lockdown” you have things such as “Rule 4: Be Active and Engaged; Camping or sitting on a community is not encouraged.” Whilst not specifically stated, locking the subreddit down in protest is not being active nor engaged.

  6. Divide and conquer. Mods helped make this community and now that they are bringing attention to an issue that impacts unpaid contributors, some in the community decide to become Spez stans. Put it up to vote and let’s see what community support exist here. It’s a shame people could wake up and have the opportunity to be anything in the world and they decide to be a Spez stan.
