What is Japanese Military Jargon for encountering the enemy

As title. Looking for the 兵語 translation for what a soldier would shout out upon meeting the enemy to alert others.

Google and some video games give various answers. 敵を発見 is used in BF1942 and COD World at War. 接敵 is also used in games. I am skeptical to trust anything google or games say because, if you asked the average American what a soldier would say upon encountering the enemy, your chance at getting the correct answer (generally: “contact!”) would be quite low because they aren’t familiar with the military discursive community.

No offense, but if you are looking for an answer from native or near-native speakers with a high level of familiarity with the “military discursive community”, a Japanese language community predominantly visited by non-native, non-military beginning/intermediate learners may not be the ideal environment.

  2. The US Department of Defense’s Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Institute offers a number of open source resources on military jargon from a number of languages (including Japanese) as well as more general offerings. Free and open to the public.
